Town Centre Attractions

Fowey Town Tour.
Starts and finishes on Town Quay.
Take a ride around the town to see what Fowey has to offer, you will be taken to some of Fowey's stunning viewpoints and hear about the history of the town and more on the way. Operates most days during the summer, no booking necessary, has storage for buggies and wheelchairs.

Fowey Museum.
In the Town Hall, Trafalgar Square, Fowey.
Depicting the history of the town and its association with the sea. You will see many objects and photographs showing life in Fowey along with the town's civic regalia and more. Open Monday - Friday 1030hrs - 1700hrs Easter to October.

Fowey Aquarium.
Underneath the Town Hall on Town Quay, Fowey.
Open during the summer months you will see examples of the fish and sea life that live in the Estuary and the surroundingcoastal waters.

Daphne du Maurier Literary Centre.
In the Tourist Information 5 South Street, Fowey.
The centre contains information about Fowey's literary connections with displays on Daphne du Maurier's life and works in particular. A video about Daphne du Maurier's connection with the area is available to watch on request. Open daily throughout the year it also houses the Tourist Information Centre.

Lostwithiel Museum.
16 Fore Street, Lostwithiel.
As the former captal of Cornwall and a port for the export of tin, Lostwithiel has an interesting history. The museum depicts life in the town through its collection of exhibits and photographs showing the social history. Open Easter - September, please check locally for current opening hours.

Shipwreck, Rescue & Heritage Centre,

The China Clay Country Park,

The Monkey Sanctuary,
Murrayton, Looe.
Home to a colony of Woolly monkeys, situated in woodlands, overlooking Looe Bay. The monkeys have been rescued from poor environments and enabled to live as naturally as possible.

Houses and Castles


Restormel Castle,
Lostwithiel.
A well preserved castle administered by English Heritage. Former stronghold of Earls of Cornwall including the Black Prince.

Lanhydrock House,
Bodmin.
A National Trust property dating from the 17th Century, but largely rebuilt after a fire in 1881. An atmospheric Victorian country house set in 900 acres of woods and parkland. The garden is renown for a stunning collection of Magnolias, Rhododendrons and Camellias.
